State-of-the-Art at the MipTec Life Sciences Congress
Friday, 24 September 2010, marked the end of the Basel Life Sciences Week 2010. Over four days, the international life sciences community gathered at the Messe Basel. The MipTec Drug Discovery Conference & Exhibition organization committee is very satisfied with the positive result of 3,000 congress attendees.
MipTec – Europe’s Largest Research Congress
3,000 scientists from research, industry, and university institutes came to Basel from around the world and thus underscored the importance of MipTec as the largest congress of its kind in Europe. The scientific program was unanimously praised. «The best program ever», stated the head of the MipTec, Sabine Adam, unequivocally when asked about the congress organization Congrex Schweiz. The top speakers – and the world-class keynote speakers in particular – thrilled the specialists and newcomers alike. In addition, the scientific lectures and the industry symposiums were very well attended.
A Great Attraction for Students and Young Professionals
Jobvector Career Day proved to be a great attraction. Students and young professionals used the career and networking platform for scientists and benefited from the large offering and wide variety of topics.
The American Ambassador Visited the MipTec Exhibit
100 exhibitors showed their latest developments and products in the 900 square meter exhibition space. That thirty of these were American companies, with their own booths or representatives from their Swiss or European subsidiaries, surprised even the ambassador of the United States, Donald S. Beyer Jr. from the embassy in Bern, who visited the MipTec and ILMAC exhibitors. For the first time, the MipTec took place within the ILMAC.
MipTec within Basel Life Sciences Week
MipTec took place as part of Basel Life Sciences Week. This initiative of five theme-related events had the objective of bundling strength through a common presence and underscoring Basel’s role as an industrial and research center. Besides the MipTec Drug Discovery Conference & Exhibition, the BioValley Live Sciences Week, the ILMAC, the Scientific Forum of the Swiss Chemical Society and the Friedrich-Miescher Institute participated. Information about the further development of this joint initiative will be announced in the coming weeks.
The next MipTec Conference and Exhibition will take place in the Congress Center Basel from 20 to 22 September 2011.
